Reel Access is a Birmingham based film education and training organisation with a focus on community filmmaking. Established in 2006, the company is made up of a team who are passionate about working alongside young people and community groups to develop their skills in filmmaking in a collaborative way and encouraging creative expression through film to raise aspirations, confidence and self esteem.

Laura Breakwell - Creative Director
Laura is the Creative Producer of Reel Access. She is responsible for the strategic direction of the company as well as its operations, nurturing, establishing relationships and partnerships. She takes an active approach to project planning and development alongside the filmmakers and artists that she works with. Prior to Reel Access, Laura was the Community Arts Officer for artSites Birmingham, which involved project management of a range of community arts projects across various art forms. While with artSites, Laura was involved in a number of small, mid and large-scale community arts productions.

Laura has a degree in Drama and Theatre Studies, a number of year’s experience of working with youth theatres and young people. She has an OCN qualification in Developing Sustainable Organisations and currently chairs the committee of Notorious Choir – Birmingham’s Choir with a Difference as well as singing soprano! She is also heavily involved with the West Midlands Producers’ Forum

George Fleming - Artistic Director
George Fleming is a filmmaker with many years experience of working on media productions. As a Writer, Director and Producer his credits include television documentaries, sports programming, award winning short films and feature film writing.

George has extensive experience of running filmmaking workshops and developing film projects with community organisations, arts bodies and school groups.

In addition to a long-term commitment to working for Reel Access, George has with worked with The Rural Media Company and the Bafta award winning company Geese Theatre. He is currently working on the young person feature film ‘Killriculum’ in Partnership with Blue Hippo Media. He is also a member of the Writers’ Guild of Great Britain and affiliated to the New Producers Alliance.
